Philip Hughes - Tracks: Walking the Ancient Landscapes of Britain
With an introduction by Kay Syrad

In over 140 superbly reproduced artworks, the distinguished artist Philip Hughes records eleven iconic walks across the length and breadth of Britain, from Allt Coire Pheiginn in Scotland to Zennor Head in Cornwall. Inspired and informed by maps, aerial photographs and the latest electronic survey techniques, Hughes' clean, spacious artworks, with their arresting blocks of colour, make contemporary some of the most formidable landmarks of the British Isles.

Hughes' artworks - often incorporating written notes, archaeological scans and contour maps - feature important local heritage sites of parrticular mystery and beauty, whether Maes Howe in Orkney, Stonehenge in Wiltshire, the Three Peaks in Yorkshire, or Hadrian's Wall in Nothumberland. Notebook spreads containing exquisite drawings and paintings made on the spot are also on display, as well as vivid extracts from Hughes' diaries and notes, helping to evoke the mood and atmosphere of the awe-inspiring landscapes on view.

Two limited editions of the publication are available with a choice of two etchings by the artist: Brodgar or Uffington Fort.
The limited edition is available at £345
